The New Year’s Party of 2015— To anticipate a better MTS

On February 28th, the 2015 New Year’s Party of MTS was held in Xiamen, China, where the headquarters of MTS based in. The staff of the headquarters as well as the representatives of branch offices gathered together to celebrate the New Year of Goat.           At the beginning of the party, President Zhonghe Wei made the annual report for 2014 and expressed his good wishes for 2015. In the past year, MTS attained achievements in many aspects: the volume of business continued to grow, internal translation technology training made gains which reinforced our translation team, successfully sponsored the Fifth Cross-strait Interpreting Contest Finals, and became one of the first language service providers who are committed to professional integrity and promise to follow TAC (Translators Association of China) Code of Professional Conduct., etc. In the year of 2015, we expect a better performance. More importance will be attached to the quality of our services and business development, and the new business, training courses of translation and interpreting, will be started in cooperation with Xiamen University. After the speech, President Wei awarded the excellent employees and team of the year 2014, then the show time of the staff began. MTS Sponsored the Fifth Cross-strait Interpreting Contest Finals

On 19th October, the Fifth Cross-strait Interpreting Contest Finals kicked off in Xiamen University. 22 players from 240 colleges and universities in mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan made themselves stand out in the fierce competition with more than 3,000 competitors. These winners gathered in Xiamen and competed against 3 foreign invited players from Monterey Institute of International Studies, Newcastle University, and University of Surrey for the final title. Since the very first Cross-strait Interpreting Contest, Master Translation Service has always been a major sponsor and supporter of this event. This year, Master Translation Service sponsored the competition final again with KL Communications Ltd from UK and boosted a great success of the contest. Themed as “Technology and Life”, the Final Contest consisted of two parts with three sections, including keynote interpreting, conference interpreting and conversation interpreting. During the contest, the contestants fully presented their solid linguist foundation, superb interpreting skills and natural and unrestrained manners on the stage, impressed the audiences with their speaking sparkles and an exciting atmosphere, and gained warm applause from time to time. After the one-day intense competition, Chia-Fu Chang, from National Taiwan Normal University, won the Outstanding Prize; Yufei Qian from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shih-Ch’i Chiang and Fan Yao-K’uan from National Taiwan Normal University tied for the First Prize. MTS Certified as Internship Partners for MTI Programs in China

“Certification Committee” comprising of the China National Committee for MTI Education, Translators Association of China, in accordance with the Guidelines for Granting Certification to Internship Partners for MTI Programs in China and Guidance for Granting Certification to Lecturers for MTI Programs in China, started to carry out the first certification work in July 2013, in an effort to innovate the training mode of Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) Programs and to promote the integration of “production, teaching and research” and scientific criterion of internship partners for translation education. The Certification Commission conducted preliminary examination, review and final review for the first-phrase applicants, i.e.109 individual applicants for part-time lecturers and 29 institutional applicants for internship partners. Finally, 41 individuals were accredited for part-time lecturers, and 23 institutions got certified as internship partners. Master Translation Services (MTS) was proud to be on the list, becoming one of the first companies granted certification to Internship Partners for MTI Programs in China. MTS in the Initial List of Language Service Providers Committed to Professional Integrity

2014 China Translation Service Industry Forum & 9th National Translation Management Seminar hosted by Translation Service Committee of Translators Association of China (TAC) were held on Sep. 17-18 in Kunming, China. Cooperation and Innovation was the theme of the forum. At the forum, TAC released the name list of the first group of language service providers who are committed to professional integrity and promise to follow TAC Code of Professional Conduct. In an effort to develop the language service market and promote the integrity practice in the industry, TAC initiated the activity of language service integrity and commitment based on Code of Professional Conduct for Language Service in China. To become one of the Language Service Commitment-to-Integrity Units, the service provider must comply with Code of Professional Conduct for Language Service in China and voluntarily sign Commitment to Operating with Integrity by Language Service Enterprise; comply with the laws and regulations and act with integrity in providing language services; take self-disciplined actions voluntarily. MTS Attended the Third CIFTIS Language Service Forum

The Third China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) was held in Beijing from May 28 to June 1, and “Language Services and Globalization Forum” as its third module was held on May 29. The forum was a high-end consulting symposium platform for the language service industry jointly organized by the Translators’ Association of China (TAC), Localization World Conference, Globalization and Localization Association as well as many well-known international business consulting agencies and industry organizations. Mr. Zhonghe Wei, President of Master Translation Service (MTS), and Mr. Shaofeng Shi, Director of MTS Domestic Business Development were invited to participate in the event. CIFTIS had brought good opportunity for the language service industry in China, with topics ranging from language asset management experience by leading global multinational enterprises, the latest authoritative information and report release in the global language service industry, investment status and language service demands of China overseas enterprises, language technologies in Big Data era and their impact to the business model, experience and lessons of trade globalization and corporate globalization, interdisciplinary multi-industry trade matching and negotiation services.
