Project Background and Our Challenges:
We were required to translate Arkansas’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports for the period 2002 to 2007. These reports were comprised of 6 PDF documents totaling 300,000 words and contained numerous figures and financial terms.
We were required to deliver the documents in batches from the start of the project resulting in a daily workload of 60,000 words. We rarely carry out projects that have such a heavy workload, tight deadline and relatively complex document layouts.
Our Solutions
Upon confirmation of the project, the account manager, sales department, translation materials department and the resource management department discussed the project and made arrangements according to the project requirements.- Our sales representative actively contacted the client to receive detailed requirements, formulate the project schedule, control the project process and deal with post-delivery issues.
- During the pre-translation stage, a DTP specialist converted the original documents into .doc files and analyzed and changed their layout and format, and then in the post-translation stage recovered and checked the layout and format. A TM engineer was deployed to analyze the repetition rate using TM tools and export the TMs of previous related projects to perform a pre-translation.
- The project manager selected translators, distributed tasks and tracked the translation process. Linguists from the financial and legal translation team were appointed to review and approve translations and provide solutions for term consistency.
