Rolls-Royce Marine (Shanghai) performed the audit from Jan 11th to Jan 21st, 2011. The company’s auditors and suppliers attended the conference, and our interpreters provided them with consecutive Chinese and English interpretation.
Our Challenges
- Highly specialized terminology: The marine manufacturing field contains a large number of specialized terms, particularly technical terms which required the interpreters to employ rapid learning tactics.
- Time pressure: The interpreters were required to be familiar with products and their corresponding raw materials’ characteristics, processes and prices, etc.
Our Solutions
- Our PM coordinated with our interpreting center to arrange internal tests and selected candidates who met the project requirements to be interviewed by the client.
- Upon the client’s selection of the interpreters, the coordinator at our interpreting center informed the interpreters of the project requirements in detail. During the preparation, the interpreters acquired comprehensive knowledge of the company, familiarized themselves with the general contents of the conference, and organized and learned the technical terms of marine manufacturing.
- When new products were presented, our interpreters gained more understanding by discussing the products with the client during the audit. Our interpreters performed an excellent and responsible service at the conference.
