Xiamen University was founded in 1921 by the famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee. It is the first university founded by an overseas Chinese individual in the history of modern Chinese education.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Xiamen University, Master Translations provided online and offline related solutions for its series of events. Our company participated in more than 20 events from April 3rd to 8th. The service and technologies provided included and were not limited to Bosch simultaneous interpretation equipment, Zoom conference interpretation, online and offline connections, multi-language channels and millisecond-delayed live broadcasts. It was indeed an honor to be able to witness and celebrate together the Centenary Anniversary of Xiamen University!
April 6, 2021 marked the 100th anniversary of Xiamen University and thus the institution celebrated this significant milestone in various ways by holding a meeting to celebrate the marked date, systematically reviewing the history of school construction and development, deeply summarizing the school’s spiritual culture, and vigorously promoting the excellent school-running traditions. “Global University Presidents Forum”
The Global University Presidents Forum with the theme of “University Missions in the Post-pandemic Era and World-Class University Informatization Construction Issues” opened at Xiamen University where presidents and representatives of nearly 50 universities from 21 countries and regions around the world participated in the forum.
In order to ensure the smooth convening of the conference, the MTS team arranged all relevant equipment in advance, and actively participated in many rehearsals arranged by the conference affairs party. These rehearsals were integral in ensuring that the needed equipment worked efficiently, as in the case of using new technologies such as offline and online meeting integration, unforeseeable events such as network outages, software glitches etc. may occur. As a company, we would like to thank the institution for the cooperation and resources provided by all parties, and for working together to ensure that the meeting was held successfully!
“International Forum on Humanities and Social Sciences”
The International Forum on Humanities and Social Sciences aimed to build a dialogue and exchange platform for experts and scholars in the aforementioned fields from various countries with the goal to jointly promote the development of humanities and social sciences while also actively encouraging world cultural exchanges and mutual learning.
With the theme of “Humanities and Social Sciences in a Community of Human Destiny”, this forum had 12 sub-forums, attracting more than 1,700 domestic and foreign experts and scholars from the United States, Britain, Germany and other countries and regions through both online and offline participation. At that time, hundreds of Xiamen University scholars discussed new issues, new visions, and new expectations in the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, while sharing China’s experience, expressing China’s voice, showing China’s self-confidence, contributing China’s strength, and solidly advancing Chinese characteristics, Xiamen University style, world-class philosophy and social sciences.
In the afternoon of the next day, this forum was held at the same venue as the “Chinese and Foreign University Presidents Forum”. The online and offline meeting technologies such as Zoom meeting interpretation, online and offline connections, and simultaneous interpretation equipment use were not any different from before with the only addition being the bilingual dual-channel streaming. In the end, we are happy to report that the institution was completely satisfied by our service offerings!
Council meeting of the University Consortium of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road
This Council meeting was held in Xiamen University on the afternoon of the 5th during the 100th anniversary of Xiamen University. It was an important working meeting since the founding of the alliance where more than 60 presidents and representatives from 36 universities of the alliance attended the meeting online and offline.
International Forum on Translation and Interpreting Education and Assessment
This international forum was sponsored by Xiamen University and jointly hosted by both the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures and the Xiamen Institute of Translation Studies. The forum which was held in Xiamen on April 2, 2021 promoted exchanges and mutual learning around world and explore common topics in the new century.
This was the first international forum that we assisted within these series of events. The contractor visited our office to know more about our interpreting solutions. Finally, we decided to use BOSCH simultaneous interpreting system, interpretation booths and more than one set of simultaneous transmission receivers while also carrying out the online and offline connection through the Zoom meeting platform seamlessly.
After two tests and rehearsals before the meeting, the smooth progress of the meeting was guaranteed and highly recognized by the organizer.
Academic Conference on the University Promoting the Development of a Community of a Shared Future for Mankind
Xiamen University held a series of international conferences with the theme of “Humanities and Social Sciences in the Community of Human Destiny” to promote world cultural exchanges and mutual learning. From April 5 to 7, 2021, the ” Academic Conference on the University Promoting the Development of a Community of a Shared Future for Mankind
” organized by the Research Center for higher education development of Xiamen University, the Bureau of Asian Education of UNESCO, the Institute of Education Research of Xiamen University and the teacher development center of Xiamen University was held in Xiamen.
Five parallel conferences were held in one venue. Besides the online and offline simultaneous interpreting, each venue had bilingual simultaneous interpreting and was broadcasted live. During the test, a high demand for network bandwidth was found. The organizer assisted MTS to realize the upgrade and layout of network bandwidth, ensuring the smooth progress of the online conferences and live broadcast.
