Translation industry experts discussed how ChatGPT can improve the efficiency of translators’ work and how it can play a significant role in three areas of production. Participants also agreed that the perfect interaction between human and machine is a question that needs consideration, and the translation market will not disappear in the future.

Jiang Xinbo, CEO of Shandong Zhihuiyi Bai Information Technology Co., Ltd., suggested that small and medium-sized enterprises should take the opportunity to establish platforms to empower their businesses. Participants also emphasized the importance of training talents to leverage the use of technology.

ChatGPT, a large-scale language model developed by OpenAI, was mentioned in almost every forum and speech, receiving unprecedented attention. The translation industry can benefit from applying artificial intelligence technology to “low-value, high-repetition” work such as pre-translation and manuscript revisions, improving work efficiency and reducing costs.
