The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) hosted its 2024 Annual Conference in sunny coastal city Valencia, Spain this week.
GALA is a trade association — a nonprofit organization that serves and supports the global language services and technologies industry which comprises translation, interpreting, localization, and the technologies that support such activities.
This conference is one of the best platforms for industry exchange, learning and cooperation. Most of the more than 60 presentations and forums at the 2024 conference, from the opening keynote speech by brilliant Daniel Susskind to the closing summary, were related to AI, and even the industry M & A forum covered the impact of AI technology development on M & As activity and valuation.
Many companies shared their experience and methods regarding the application of Artificial Intelligence, and technology companies launched their own integrated products. Even Boostlingo, a remote human interpretation platform, unveiled its AI integration application at the conference. Despite many uncertainties, everyone has shown enough resilience and adaptability to cope with the challenges that AI presents.
Our CEO Frank Wei traveled to Valencia all the way from Xiamen, China, to participate in this valuable Annual exchange. Our local talent, CMO Luz Sanchis, was honoured to have her home country as the appointed venue for such a paramount event and to welcome attendees from all corners of the world.
She presented our views and practices on behalf of language service providers in Asia at the roundtable “Harnessing your People Power: an Antidote to the Uncertainty of AI” moderated by industry experts Nicole Spyt-James and Natalia Quintás, along with representatives from Europe and Africa Giada Gerotto and Johan Botha, respectively.
The event, wich counted with the participation of more than 500 attendees, a record in the history of this Annual Conference, will be held next year in Toronto, Canada. We hope to see you there!
